I have had this ringer box (also known as a subset or subscriber set) for several years. My parents found it in the barn when they lived near Orillia. I decided that it is time to start restoration of it. So far I have disassembled the parts and started cleaning and removing rust etc.

This week the old shed was emptied and the contractors came and demolished it and prepared the site for the new concrete pad to be poured. The concrete has now set, and they can begin on construction once they have the materials (and the time).
Made a vintage label for this phone, a classic Northern Telecom 500. The phone actually works. I was surprised that pulse is still active here. I thought all I could do is use it to answer calls.
One of the reasons I bought this was to work with some old school modems I have, and the PhoneType modem for a 5-bit (Baudot) Teletype. PhoneType Modem for a 5-bit (Baudot) Teletype. This came with my Model 15. It was designed so the hearing impaired could use surplus teletype machines to communicate over the phone lines. This might explain why the margin and signal bells were removed from mine. They were not needed. This was painted gross colour that just would not clean up well, so I decided to paint it the same colour as the teletype.
Got some Teletype parts in the mail from RTTY Electronics in California. These are some of the pieces I missed the last time I ordered parts. Mostly small items that I didn't quite see on the parts list or realize I was missing.
Picked up this 1930's block heater back in August. Cleaned it up and removed the rust and repainted it. It is a Bunsen-Davy heater. It would have been something used to heat up the Model A engine on a cold day.
At some point I will have to see if I can make up a decal to replace the label. Sixty four years ago at 19:28:34 UTC, the space age began with the launch of Sputnik. In 1957, this is how news outlets throughout the world were first alerted to the launch of Sputnik.
