Reproduction Boards
As noted elsewhere, I picked up my Mod 80 at a ham-fest well over a dozen years ago. The package consisted of several circuit boards and some documentation. Unfortunately, I did not have a complete set of boards. However, I did have schematics and board layout drawings from the "Mod 8 Manual" and the "Mod 80 Supplement".
What started off as an effort to reproduce a few missing boards for myself, ended up designing all the boards needed to make either a Mod 8 or Mod 80 computer. The photos below show the new boards along with a comparison to an original MIL board. |
Below is a video walk-through of the boards needed to make a Mod-8 and Mod-80.
Below are a series of build and test videos done by Craig Andrews in California. His YouTube channel "Hello World" has lots of useful stuff on it. Thanks to his notes etc., I have improved on the boards somewhat, so if you order boards from me in the future the hole sizes for some components will be larger and various minor errors in the silk screening have been fixed.
Craig does an excellent job explaining how the system works. Many of these things are not described at all (or not very well) in the Mod 8 manuals.
