It took me awhile to figure out what this radio was. The AGS is really a Sansei radio that dates from about 1960 and goes under many different names: Hi Mood, Stewart, AFCO and AMD.
After replacing the missing tubes (which fortunately I had in my cache), the radio would work, however there was a lot of noise. Clearly the capacitors needed replacing. After figuring out how to remove the chassis without damaging the tuning dial, I was able to do a basic recapping. Afterwards it worked just fine.
I did manage to find a partial schematic for the radio on a web-page somewhere, but fortunately I did not need it. At some point I might reverse engineer it to complete the schematic.
The only thing missing is the backing plate. I should be able to make up one that would look reasonable, however it would not have the ink on it. This is a future project.
