Today I received an unmarked MIL MF8080 chip that I bought off of a person in Alberta who had a large number of these that he obtained from an ex-MIL employee a number of years ago. The first few he had went for some ridiculous prices, but by the time he was getting down to his last half dozen or so, I was able to buy this one for $250 Cdn. It was a bit of a risk.I was pretty sure it was the real deal though, because I had seen another one in the flesh. In addition, another on in this batch had the cover removed to identify it as a MIL MF8080. The real risk was would it work, or would it just be an item for display. It turned out I was lucky in my pick, and it appears to work quite well. There are not too many of these out there because the company went out of business just as they were producing these. Most chips are unlabeled, meaning they were for internal use and not sold to the public. I am really fortunate to be able to buy one of these for a reasonable price. |
