Got my Wilesco steam engine running tonight. discovered that the company still exists and was able to order a replacement along with fuel, special oil and other parts from Germany. It works wonderfully.
In 2015, at the Dayton Hamvention, I picked up this Wilesco D6 model steam engine. This more or less sat on a shelf in my garage until I came across a larger steam engine this spring. While researching that one, I discovered that the company that made this one still exists and I was able to order a replacement stack along with fuel, special oil and other parts from Germany. Finish up cleaning and repainting the steam engine I bought last week. Boy did it clean up nice! Did a test run on compressed air and it ran pretty good, so it should work on steam. Picked up a boiler this week for $50 which hopefully will work for this engine. It is simple, no boiler tubes, just a central smoke stack, so it is not too efficient. Picked up this cool model steam engine at the Barrie Antique Autofest. This is a good sized engine too. About 9 or 10" high with a 4" flywheel. I am not sure the brand, but it is similar to a Stuart 7A.
