However... A few hours later I got a call from my son saying the basement was flooded. Sure enough when I got home it had about 2.5 inches of water on the floor. Sump pump switched decided to fail. When I got home I bypassed the switch to get rid of the water. However, the damage has been done. We had a similar flood back in 2008. Not quite seven years ago, but close enough.
"Expect disaster every seven years" - Wise Man's Fear by Patrick Rothfuss This morning I have never seen so much rain in such a short time! All the ditches were full and the stuff was still coming down in buckets. On my way to work went through a large puddle water on the highway which was much deeper than I first thought. It was in a low point under an overpass. I guess it must have been a foot deep. The whole car was covered with water as the car plowed through it. I could not see a thing as my windshield was covered in about a half inch of muddy water. The friction from it slowed me down from a 100 kph to 30 in mere seconds. That was scary. Fortunately I didn't spin out and no one was close on my heels, so I avoided an accident.
